In the first two months of this year, Zhanjiang's total value of foreign trade was 6.12 billion yuan ($86.29 million), an increase of 12 percent year-on-year. Among them, exports were 1.92 billion yuan, a decrease of 27.2 percent, while imports were 4.2 billion yuan, an increase of 48.8 percent.

In terms of trade methods, the import and export of bonded logistics and processing trade have increased significantly. In terms of enterprise categories, state-owned enterprises surpassed private enterprises and became the largest import and export body in the city.

In order to make efforts to the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic as well as promote the steady growth of foreign trade, Zhanjiang Customs issued 21 measures to help relevant enterprises resume work and production. These include: opening up green channels for import clearance of epidemic prevention materials, as well as production and living materials, such as food and raw materials; carrying out 24-hour appointment customs clearance seven days a week; implementing tax reduction fees, as well as deferred tax payment, reduction, and exemption policies; as well as guiding enterprises to make good use of bonded policies to reduce operating costs and ease funding pressure during epidemic periods.
